Summary

There is so much to find out when a baby is born! What does it smell like, and when will it walk? When does it sleep, and what does it like to eat? A new addition to any family is exciting, but the experience can alsobe worrying and confusing for siblings。 Coping with the new situations and emotions that arise can be very challenging。 This series of four board books deals with the anticipation of waiting for the new baby, the excitement of the arrival itself, and the beginnings of the special relationship that develops between siblings。 The simple conversational text and lively illustrations are carefully designed to encourage further dialogue between reader and child。

I didn't think there was anything spectacular about it, but my 2。5 year old loves it。 It's one of his favorites as we get ready to welcome a new baby into our family。 He started memorizing it after 2 reads, so he really likes it。 I didn't think there was anything spectacular about it, but my 2。5 year old loves it。 It's one of his favorites as we get ready to welcome a new baby into our family。 He started memorizing it after 2 reads, so he really likes it。 。。。more

My son loves to read this one though he doesn't really understand all concepts yet, hopefully it's going to help him visualise s little about the new arrival。 My son loves to read this one though he doesn't really understand all concepts yet, hopefully it's going to help him visualise s little about the new arrival。 。。。more

I enjoyed reading this to my two-year-old in preparation for a sibling。 there's very little text on each page allowing you to fill in your own details。 I enjoyed reading this to my two-year-old in preparation for a sibling。 there's very little text on each page allowing you to fill in your own details。 。。。more

Cute, and easy to read。 My daughter got this around when baby 2 was on the way。 She still enjoys looking at it and relating to the big sister。

Favorite part: looking at the pictures

Very simple board book that shows a toddler sibling getting to know the new baby in the family。

My New Baby goes through the many thoughts that a young sibling may have regarding a new baby in the house。 Some examples are, "Is the baby hungry?", "This baby smells nice," "Is the baby clean yet?"。 The text is very simple, and easy for young children to relate to 。 Most of the book is about the pictures。 Little ones will enjoy the big, colorful illustrations that show family life with a baby。 They offer a chance to discuss what life with the new baby will be like。 Two points I thought were ni My New Baby goes through the many thoughts that a young sibling may have regarding a new baby in the house。 Some examples are, "Is the baby hungry?", "This baby smells nice," "Is the baby clean yet?"。 The text is very simple, and easy for young children to relate to 。 Most of the book is about the pictures。 Little ones will enjoy the big, colorful illustrations that show family life with a baby。 They offer a chance to discuss what life with the new baby will be like。 Two points I thought were nice were that the baby was being breast-fed, and that the older sibling didn't feel like she was left out - she received a present, she helped take care of the baby, and she had her own story time at bed time。My New Baby is a good book for children ages 2 - 5 who have a new baby brother or sister。-Sherry EllisAuthor of That Baby Woke Me Up, AGAIN! 。。。more

Why is the toddler smiling when she asks 'Why is Baby crying? Can we make it stop'?Maybe this would be better read in conjunction with the other 4 books but I just felt it was unrealistic。 There's nothing wrong with it - it voices some of the questions toddlers would have and uses bright colours, but it just didn't resonate with me。 Why is the toddler smiling when she asks 'Why is Baby crying? I love this book and its been great to read to our son who relates to it having a baby sister。 I especially love that the mommy nurses the baby which is very relevant to our family (usually always a bottle)。 I like to call the babies by my kids names。This is for when the baby is very small and shows how he/she incorporates into the family life。 The next book deals with sibling rivalry a little in that an older baby gets into the big siblings stuff (what we're dealing with now big time!) This would be an excellent book to read with an older sibling to answer the questions s/he may have about a new baby。 It's one flaw is that it doesn't address the issue of sibling rivalry。 This would be an excellent book to read with an older sibling to answer the questions s/he may have about a new baby。 It's one flaw is that it doesn't address the issue of sibling rivalry。 。。。more

A cute book。

My 4-year old loved this book。 This surprised me since we are not expecting a baby, so he could not directly relate to the process。 My preschooler loved flipping through the pages on his own without the words or any familiar context。Mom thought this was appropriate for soothing anxiety and recommends it in her review。 My 4-year old loved this book。 This surprised me since we are not expecting a baby, so he could not directly relate to the process。 My preschooler loved flipping through the pages on his own without the words or any familiar context。Mom thought this was appropriate for soothing anxiety and recommends it in her review。 。。。more
